The pinnacle of minimal

The Living Objects is a collection of stone objects that can be used in multifunctional ways.

With its clean aesthetics and beautiful colors, the Living Objects is designed to be in a playful dialogue with its owner, inviting you to play with different compositions, functions and use.

Multifunctional object

The Living Objects can serve as a candleholder, a flower vase, a bookend or anything else you can imagine.

The multifunctionality of the Living Objects also means that the product can be used more and for longer time, instead of being a seasonal product that ends up unused.

Natural Stone

The Living Objects are made in Portugal from marble and travertine.

In general, natural stone is a durable material with a low CO2 footprint. When the stone is sourced close to the manufacturing workshop, it is possible to keep the CO2 footprint of the product low.

The collection is made from Portuguese marble and travertine sourced from various countries, depending on availability.

Shaping the Objects

At our manufacturing partner's site, the stone is shaped into the Living Object with laser cutting. Since the product is only made of stone, it has a long durability and can be polished into shape if necessary.

A million uses of a minimal object

Seen here in constellation with the Composition Light, the Living Object is an aesthetically pleasing as well as a multifunctional object for the home.

Meet the designer

Ólína Rögnudóttir is the designer of the Living Objects collection. Ólína is educated in the field of MultiMedia, Communication and Product design with a special focus on sustainability. Ólína received her BA Degree in Design and Business from KEA (Copenhagen School of Design & Technology) in 2016. In her work she explores where functionality meets aesthetics, through the interplay of simple shapes and natural materials.

How FÓLK approaches lowering the environmental footprint

At FÓLK we strive to limit and reduce the environmental footprint of our products and we also want to encourage sustainable living through the use of our products.

One of the methods we use is measuring the CO2 footprint of our products. According to the EU, 80% of a product‘s environmental impacts are decided in the design phase.

FÓLK’s principles help decrease the environmental footprint. Typically, the largest contributors of impacts are:

  • The amount and type of material used
  • The level of waste of material created in the production phase
  • The type of energy used in the production phase
  • The durability of the product and a product‘s lifetime.
  • The end of life and the opportunity to reuse or recycle the product‘s materials.
